Looking for feedback on off-market deal sourcing tools + best practices
Hey everyone,
I’m currently focused on finding off-market acquisition opportunities and have been researching different tools and platforms to build a strong sourcing system.
A few platforms that have been brought to my attention so far:
* D&B Hoovers
* Apollo.io
* Clay
* Data Axle
*Grata
I’m already using LinkedIn Sales Navigator, so I’m trying to build on top of that and figure out what actually adds incremental value.
My main priorities:
* Protecting capital and not wasting time on low-quality data
* Getting accurate owner/contact info for outreach
* Finding businesses that are not actively broker-listed
* Building a repeatable sourcing system rather than one-off searches
For those who have used these platforms:
* Which ones actually delivered off-market acquisition opportunities?
* Is one clearly better for small business owner outreach?
* Are any of these overrated for ETA / SMB acquisition sourcing?
* What’s your actual stack look like in practice?
Also open to:
* Scrappy / lower-cost alternatives
* Scraping methods or workflows
* Non-obvious tactics that outperform paid tools
Appreciate any insight—trying to avoid overpaying for software that doesn’t translate into real deal flow.
Thanks in advance.
