I’m in the early stages of building a de novo home services platform and am starting initial conversations with potential partners and capital sources who understand what this actually is, and what it is not: - This is not a traditional search deal. - This is a platform creation effort with asymmetric upside and very real execution risk. How I expect LPs to view it: - Higher risk - Longer hold - Platform build, not financial engineering - Requires real M&A and operator-recruitment capability One additional lens LPs should apply: this is a de novo platform by design. Starting from scratch allows us to build the operating model, culture, and systems for scale from day one, and to preserve EBITDA value that is typically sold away in an initial platform acquisition. Candidly, the only reason anyone should fund this is if they believe a few specific things about me and the approach: - I have pattern recognition from building and scaling distribution and service-based sales businesses - I can recruit and align strong operators at the local level - I can source proprietary or semi-proprietary deals in fragmented markets - I understand pacing and discipline well enough not to blow this up by scaling too fast This is not for the same LP base as a more traditional independent sponsor deal. Some overlap may happen later. Not at the beginning. What I’m looking for right now: - Thoughtful capital partners who’ve seen platforms built from scratch - Operators or executives with deep home services experience who want equity, not just comp - People who value judgment, sequencing, and restraint as much as ambition If you’ve backed or built something similar, fit into one of the categories that I'm looking for, or are curious enough to pressure-test the thesis, I’d welcome a conversation. Feel free to comment here or message me directly. McLean

Thanks for the tag Luke! McLean, happy to connect, I'm in Philly area and have been in home services a while and in conversations to do an aggregate build out in the HVAC/Plumbing space.

Located in Austin - happy to connect if helpful to play devil’s advocate / pressure test from a thesis/structuring perspective.
