Poro Point is a search fund formed by a successful exited CEO and second time searcher, based in mid-town Manhattan. Poro Point’s founder invests his own capital alongside partners he worked with in his first search and operating company- Ticketech.
The firm is looking for one MBA Candidate or recent graduate to take on a Summer VP position. The earliest start date would be May 15th and the latest would-be July 30th. Interviews will be conducted from now until May 15th.
About the VP role:
The ideal candidate would be able to devote at least 40-hours per week over at least a 12-week period during the summer. We can help you get credit for this internship and are happy to write recommendations for high-performing interns over the phone or email to any future employers or investors.
If there is a mutual fit following the summer internship, the VP may continue to work with Poro Point upon graduation or during the MBA school year. For the right VP, we also may have an opportunity to work at the acquired company post-acquisition.
The Vice President will play a crucial role in the early days of building a strong proprietary sourcing process and acquisition pipeline by focusing on a variety of responsibilities. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills, as well as a solid understanding of financial concepts and business fundamentals. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the search fund model, working closely with an experienced CEO in the pursuit of a high-potential acquisition.
Poro Point has four active work streams related to the single goal of buying a company. MBA VPs would help manage and execute on the below with support from undergraduate teams.
Thesis Development and Sourcing: Conduct in-depth industry market research to develop a solid industry-driven thesis that will become the basis of several months of searching. Work will include market mapping, interviews with industry contacts, and thesis development. VP will leverage the investment thesis to actively source potential acquisition targets for Poro Point’s founder.
Outbound Process Development: VP will help build processes and documentation around deal flow generation, market and company research, due diligence, and intern operations.
Deal Process and Diligence: In the event Poro Point signs a Letter of Intent during this time, VP will assist in aspects of the due diligence process.
Team Management: Support the recruitment, onboarding, and mentorship of other interns, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
About Poro Point:
At Poro Point we have a culture similar to an early-stage start-up. We have a casual dress code, and you will find that we prefer collaboration above micro-management, coaching above directing, and long-term development above immediate results. While we have an informal atmosphere, we remain laser focused on our goal to acquire a great company. We follow clearly defined investment criteria and an evolving deal flow generation process that is multi-touch, data-driven, and highly automated. We only approach companies that we would potentially acquire.
