I'm creating the LLC for my search entity and have not been able to identify a NAICs code that fits cleanly with a self-funded search entity that intends to take on equity partners. Does anyone know what the proper NAICS code is for this?

It's interesting how hard it is to find an NAICS code to associate with a self-funded search entity. A business credit card application I recently submitted asked for this, and for better or worse after not finding a clear answer, I admittedly relied on AI to choose one for me. The response at least *seems* logical. Anyone have any comments on this?

"AI Overview: The NAICS code for a self-funded buyer of a company is typically '523910' which refers to 'Miscellaneous Intermediation," encompassing individuals or entities buying or selling assets for their own account, including venture capital companies and investors acting as principals in transactions like buying a company outright.' "

Key points about NAICS code###-###-#### : Definition: This code covers situations where an individual or company is essentially buying a company with their own funds to own and operate it, not acting as a broker or intermediary for others. Relevant examples: Venture capital firms, private equity investors buying companies directly, investment clubs making acquisitions with pooled funds."

It depends on how you want to brand yourself. Sector 55 is Management of Companies and Enterprises and there is a Holding Company code of###-###-#### that is generic. Alternatively, if you want have a target industry sector that you are planning to acquire, you may want to consider the top NAICS code for that sector. In the end, it really doesn't matter because you can always add/remove codes for your business later.
