What is Searchfunder.com?

New SBA Rules

How do you think the new SBA Rules will impact deal flow? Do you think the SBA will backoff the new restrictions in the future, or do you think this might provide a buyer advantage for liquid buyers?

New Ownership Requirement (effective March 1, 2026) SBA 7(a) and 504 loans will now require 100% U.S. citizen ownership — green card holders can no longer own any part of a business applying for these loans. This is a major change since previously up to 5% non-citizen ownership was allowed.

My hope is that the SBA will back off of this decision in the near future. However, I would not plan on that happening and I would seek alternative financing if not a full US citizen to play it safe.
