Niche Trade Associations

I bought a corporate catering business in 2019 and I miss the learning and friendships that can develop in a good trade association. I now it's kind of a niche-y space, but do any of you have experience in starting a trade association? Things to avoid?

No help on starting an association, however a colleague of ours used to attend NACE events - https://www.nace.net.
