Operators one to three years post-close — what did you inherit that you still haven't fixed?
Curious to hear from people who are past the honeymoon and past the first real crisis. The pattern I keep seeing: diligence covers the financials, the customer list and the seller's role. Then you take over, and the thing that actually slows you down is smaller and dumber than any of that. A quoting process that only exists in one person's head. Three spreadsheets that have to agree before anyone can invoice. A dispatch board that is an actual whiteboard. If that was you, a few specific things I'd like to hear: ∙ The one manual process you swore you'd fix in month two and still haven't ∙ What it costs you in hours a week, if you've ever actually counted ∙ Something you did fix, and whether it was worth what it took Thanks!
