I've spoken to a lot of people who have made it work searching part-time (while working a full-time job). Ultimately depends on the job you have & the systems you build but I've met people in demanding roles (finance & consulting) that have made proprietary search (cold outreach) work. They've relied on building systems (and hiring offshore resources / part-time interns) - but definitely possible.

If you can find a deal through proprietary search then see if they’ll take you on in some capacity. I’ve heard it be done. Even if it’s not the company, if it’s the same industry the experience is invaluable, + some income.
