Partnership On Existing Business?

Does anyone have experience in structuring a partnership on an existing company? I have had a conversation with an owner who isnt necessarily ready to retire, but would like to bring on a partner to help grow the business through an equity injection and full time role. The idea would be to buy into the business gradually for 3-4 years before the owner retires. If you have experience around this, would love to connect.
