Does anyone have experience taking a pause from searching? Did it take extra effort to resume the search later on?

I am semi-paused right now due to expecting our first child in a few months and solid paternity leave with my current job (I am self-funded and searching while working). Obviously I don't have a ton of perspective to offer on how it ends up, but following to see what others think.

I paused for awhile, and am trying to get back into it again. I'm finding that a lot of groundwork I did earlier (learning the process, building my screening criteria, getting to know brokers, lenders, etc) is making it easier to ramp back up. It does take some effort because you have to build the pipeline again, but I think it really depends on the market conditions. You might find yourself lucky and see a good deal right away. One things I did notice is that the competition seems much more fierce now that SMB acquisition has gained popularity in the past couple years. I paused two years ago and trying to get back in now, and I can already feel the searcher community has grown exponentially in my area (PNW).
