Does anyone have a quick method, or a few signals, for determining where in the stages of consolidation an industry may be?

I understand there's a lot to unpack with that...

Find if there is some kind of national advocacy group for the industry. Try to connect with the President or executive director. Those individuals usually know the larger players in the space and can give insight on both public and private transactions.
