Preparing for HVAC acquisition - best use of time

For those that have acquired a HVAC or other home service business, what would you say would be the best use of my time while in the search/acquisition process? Is there anything you could have done to increase your chances of success once in the business?

Assuming it will take 6-18 months to find the right business to acquire, I am considering studying HVAC (I do not have a license so this may speed up the process), or learning ServiceTitan CRM.

Any advice would be most welcome.

I would use the time to learn as much as you can about the industry, the acquisition process and read some great books for entrepreneurs. If you're looking to learn more about the legal aspects of the acquisition, we have a course called Acquisition Insights and free LOI Masterclass and checklist that I'd be happy to share with you.
