Next Coast ETA is a division of Next Coast Ventures (NCV), a venture capital firm that invests in entrepreneurs who are building disruptive companies in big markets. At NCV, the focus is on supporting the best entrepreneurs in the world as they build their businesses. At NC ETA, we follow suit on a similar mission -- we support our search fund entrepreneurs every step of the way, providing them the capital, modern technology, and operational wisdom to grow their acquired businesses and deliver outsized returns.
We are looking for a remote, unpaid, part-time intern, who is interested in starting their own search fund and would benefit from the exposure to our diligence and decision-making process. The intern will work closely with the Associate and Partners to help evaluate and make recommendations regarding potential investments.
During the internship, we will introduce you to our investor network, mentor, and evaluate you for a possible unit investment in your search.
Responsibilities of the Role
Participate in the due diligence of potential investment opportunities (including direct investments and secondaries). Diligence will include market and company research, preparing financial models, performing valuation and IRR analyses, creating investment memoranda, and effectively communicating recommendations to the Investment Committee.
The Requirements
While this is an unpaid internship, we believe an individual looking to get plugged into the Search universe could benefit tremendously from this opportunity. As such, we are looking for someone seriously considering pursuing a career in ETA.
Technical Skills - Analytical, financial modeling, and valuation analysis skills, as demonstrated through prior experience forecasting balance sheets, cash flow statements, and income statements
Communication Skills - Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to deliver an investment recommendation or opinion concisely and effectively
Interpersonal and Team Dynamics – Comfortable working in a team environment, open to constructive criticism and willing to critique other team members work with the intent of getting to a well- formed investment opinion
Educational Background – Bachelor’s degree required; MBA student preferred
