Hi, Would someone know if the address of the EIN (Tax ID) of a US Traditional Search Fund should be where you registered your LLC or where you are operating the search?

Best regards,

Remy

I called the IRS to ask this question when I was preparing my EIN application. They said the address can be the registered agent address, your business address, or your personal address. Where would you want the IRS to send correspondence? I do not believe this document is made public, so there is little reason to use a registered agent address in my opinion. I chose my personal address as the mailing address as I was unsure how long I would be in my office space and did not want to have to update with the IRS frequently. I chose my business address as the physical location address, as that is where I conduct my search. Hope this helps.

In the search phase you would not need to register as a foreign entity in a state where you were searching. Once you are operating or selling in a new state you will need to do so.
