I am going to be moving to a self funded approach to finding a company to buy and moving from a 30 year career where I have always had very good insurance. I am willing to pay to ensure my family continues to keep a decent insurance plan (i.e. Blue Cross Blue Shield) during my search process. Any suggestions on companies and plans you have used to support a family of four?

Even if you make too much to qualify for any discounts, the online marketplace has a lot of good options. You just may pay full price out of pocket obviously. It’s pretty easy to follow along and they have a ton of plans from companies like Anthem on down. They’re all broken down by price, deductible, etc. and very user friendly.
Also, I’m not sure about other states but here in Maine we have a separate state website.
It’s definitely worth a look.
Good luck.

I've had poor results shopping the marketplace as they often offer lower quality plans through the marketplace than are available directly. However, using the marketplace to find out which companies are operating in your area and reaching out to the them directly seems to be the way to go.

Unless you have an entity and can justify forming a group through your business.
