Rehydration Drink Startup

A slightly off-topic post, I have a friend who has a startup drinks company in the USA that is producing rehydration powder and has asked me if I can help him understand more of the industry and the viability of his endeavor.

Do you have any experience in this industry and would be willing to chat to him?
Do you have any resources to point him to?
Any advice?

If he has not already, industry research is typically labeled "oral rehydration salts" or "electrolyte rehydration." Unilever is the dominant player with Liquid IV (lots of distribution from club to mass to grocery) and another key player is LMNT.
