Returning home to run a fund: has anyone done this in a frontier market?

I'm raising Umbral Capital Partners, a Delaware LP / Reg D 506(c) cold chain infrastructure fund focused on Venezuela. In June 2026 I'm relocating from Austin to Venezuela to run it on the ground as the owner-operator. Two questions for this community: If you've ever looked at Venezuela (or any frontier market) as an investment vehicle, what stopped you? To the searchers and GPs here who've operated funds internationally: how did you structure it, and what would you do differently? Background: 10+ years operating across Dell, PepsiCo, SABMiller, P&G in LatAm. Venezuelan-born, returning home. umbralcapital.com
