Does anyone have a sample investor teaser / memo they can share (redacted is fine)? I am planning to reach out to investors over the next few weeks to raise last-mile equity and preparing my materials (deck, teaser, etc.).

I am looking for any examples of how to summarize the business, financials, projected investor returns, timelines, etc.

Of course, if anyone wants to be added to my investor contact list - drop your email below or DM for priority access.

Deal Summary: High-growth eCommerce business (i.e. not HVAC), $4.6M TTM Sales, $1.2M EBITDA, growing 30% yoy in a market with multi-year macro and micro tailwinds. Raising $500k @ projected 30-35% IRR over a 5-year hold period.

I have provided a sample investor teaser for Acme eCommerce to serve as a guide. Acme eCommerce is an eCommerce company based in San Francisco, CA that sells widgets online. The company has a revenue of $4.6M TTM, an EBITDA of $1.2M, and a growth rate of 30% YoY. The market opportunity is large and growing with multi-year tailwinds. Investment highlights include a high-growth business with a proven track record, strong financial performance with significant EBITDA, a large and growing market with multi-year tailwinds, an experienced management team with a proven track record, and an opportunity for investors to achieve significant returns. The investment amount sought is $500k, and the investment thesis is that Acme eCommerce is a high-growth eCommerce business with a large and growing market opportunity, strong financial performance, and an experienced management team. To learn more about Acme eCommerce, please contact us at [email protected] and we will happily provide you with a full investment memo. When writing an effective investor teaser, it is important to keep it concise, highlight key points of the investment thesis, use strong financial metrics to support your claims, and make it easy for investors to get in touch by including contact information. I hope this information is helpful!

While everyone has their own style of teaser that they like to build, the basics are all the same.:

1) The Past - Show what the company has done that makes you want to acquire them. Why are they a good business?

2) The Present - What are their current stats? Financial? Customers? Employees? Anything that makes them special? What are their biggest challenges to growth?

3) The Future - What are the existing items that will lead to growth (separate from you and your team)? Who is your team that you're injecting? How are they going to solve what is wrong with the business (there's always something wrong)? What kind of growth can you expect in the next 3-5 years and what are the specific reasons why you think that?

I'll harp on this last point a little. Investors / Lenders do not want to hear the standard startup things here. Those things are, "We're going to disrupt the X industry and grow at 100% a year for the next 10 years!" and "The Y industry is $400 billion globally. If we can only get 1% of marketshare..."

Conversely, they don't here very reasoned, detailed arguments on why the relatively modest growth projected is very real and doable.
