Does anyone have insights into what options are available to take out a SBA like loan in Canada? Is there a government program in Canada that can fund acquisitions of local small business in Canada?

Unfortunately, there is no equivalent to the SBA in Canada. BDC is the closest option (although still far, far away). They are a crown corporation and they typically willing to take more risk than the traditional banks, but that comes at a higher cost.
