Searcher CEO severance after termination

Hi Search Fund Community

I am working on various interviews to figure out the searcher CEO severance packages. I am hearing a very wide range from $0 to 1 year worth of serverance.

It would seem like perverse incentive in some ways. I would think most would give the searcher endless ways to solve whatever the cause is for termination, such that if you are really being fired, it is for cause.

From the folks we have been interviewing for the book, we are hearing very contradicting stories. Many of them were not given a lot of coaching/feedback prior to termination. (of course this is hard to judge as its hard to get both sides of the story)

In addition, it seems to me that if there is a second searcher or a seller that is still involved, the board is much more incentivized to terminate a searcher CEO to pursue favorable economics.

The question we are trying to answer here is what the comp looks like post-termination. I'm hearing $0 -$50K on the lower side and the higher side 1 year's worth of comp
