Searchers Circle NYC: Breakfast Meet-up
April 08, 2026
by an investor from Bowdoin College in New York, NY, USA
A "Real-Talk" Meetup for Acquisition Entrepreneurs
Searchers Circle is a recurring, story-driven meetup for Lab Members who are searching for a business to buy as well as those who’ve already been through the journey. There are no presentations, no frameworks, and no selling. Instead, we sit together and share real stories: what’s working, what’s not, what surprised us, and what we wish we’d known sooner.
It’s a space for honest conversations with people who truly understand the uncertainty you’re navigating in the markets you're actually operating in.
Non-Acquisition Lab members/Acquisition Entrepreneurs are welcome to join up to two meetings as guests to experience the community before deciding whether the broader Lab ecosystem feels like the right fit.
Breakfast and coffee will be provided.
Who This Is For:
People exploring or preparing for a search
Active acquisition entrepreneurs
Business owners who have been through the journey and want to share real stories
Why Attend:
You’ll hear real, unpolished stories from people in your community who are:
Actively talking to owners and reviewing deals
Navigating momentum, lost deals, and false starts
Engaged in the post-close operations of their target companies
Reflecting honestly on what’s been hard and what’s been unexpectedly helpful
You’ll also build relationships with people you’re likely to see again. Searchers Circle is designed to be recurring, familiar, and trust-based. Not a one-off networking event.
What to Expect:
This is a 90-minute guided conversation as well as social time, loosely following this flow:
Lab Chapter President welcome & ground rules
Short opening topic or reading
Round-robin sharing
Accountability statements
Social time — food, drinks, conversation
We follow Chatham House Rule: what’s shared in the room, stays in the room.
No pitching. No advice-giving. Just honest experience.
