Searchers: How do you go about technical diligence / post-acquisition work?

Curious what searchers are doing for this now.

Do you hire a firm? Fractional/consulting CTO? Have a technical advisor on your cap table? Is one of your investors technical or have the resources to help there? Do you partner/hire a technical person going into the deal? What's your plan/strategy?

As a technical exec, I've done a number of technical diligence projects as part of normal M&A while in-house so I can just do it myself. But am interested in how others might handle that, or when they might do it. (Maybe not the landscaping searchers, but maybe? I don't know!)

1) If you know the industry you're ahead of the pace. 2) It never hurts to have a second set of eyes on things, especially if it's industry specific not general. Better to confirm all is well than be surprised.
