Anyone currently searching with a Full time job or has in the past?

Would love to hear from some fellows personal experience with this!

Currently attempting PT search while FT employed for the past 9 months. Certainly agree with Karl that if nothing else it is a "great way to learn by doing, get your systems setup, etc.". Will have to say that depending on your role/job, the virtual COVID work environment has actually made it easier to search PT due to the flexibility around the traditional work day.

It will most likely "delay" any timeline you might have originally had re: closing on a transaction. However, at the end of the day, all you need is one target. The search game more or less, is a numbers game and that is why FT searching is usually the way to go, just the shear volume / time commitment needed to land "the one".

But with anything, a very disciplined and targeted approach can get the job done as well. A laser focus on quality rather than quantity. More often than not, patience will be an important virtue here. Just one perspective, but my thought process is that I would love to find the one "tomorrow" and I structure my activities around working to make that happen as best I can in a PT basis but I also fully realize, I might be searching for another 2-3 years.

Happy to chat further if helpful.

I generally agree with the preceding comments, and this topic has been asked several times before on Searchfunder, so do a search for other answers.

I'll add that I just switched from part-time to full-time search this week primarily because I wasn't getting enough time in on search. Also, you'll need flexibility during the workday to talk with brokers because you can't really do everything during the evening and on weekends.

However, starting part-time was a great way to learn by doing, get your systems setup, etc.
