It goes without saying that this is not tax advice. As a recovering-CPA who no longer practices, the rule of thumb was QSBS could be applied to non-service businesses, such as, but not limited to technology, distribution, and manufacturing. Businesses that provide services like architecture, legal, financial services, are usually not allowed. My hunch would be roofing repair is a bit in the gray area and probably best to get an expert's opinion.
