What is Searchfunder.com?

Self-funded searcher investment terms

Does anyone know where I can find example terms used by a self-funded searcher with their investors? I'd like to figure out the amount of flexibility there is with self-funded searchers as opposed to a traditional search fund.

The structures can vary wildly. A lot of it is determined by the lead investor, deal structure, investor base profile, etc. I wish I could say that there was a magic bullet for this.

The best piece of advice that I could offer is to never forget that this isn't a VC deal- don't give away the farm if you have a good deal (i.e., everyone else makes a ton of money before you get anything). If you find a good company with reliable cash flows (and don't overpay), you have value. Investors should be compensated for risk (opaque markets & companies, low liquidity), but investors shouldn't be the only ones to receive value.
