Many small businesses are run in such a way that the money in play is highly personal and co-mingled with the owner's personal life. If there's one thing I know about personal finance, it's that it's highly irrational. Wholly owned small businesses are no exception. They've often been managed under financial irrationality. For self-funded acquirers that's both an opportunity and a trap.
