Does anyone have any experience with financing Solar or Green energy projects? I've been connected to some interesting opportunities in the space, and it seems challenging to finance these lower-market opportunities. I also have a direct tie-in to sell the carbon credits that would be generated. We're in the early stages of these discussions, but I would love to pick someone's brain if they have any expertise here. Opportunities are currently in the Middle East and Africa.

I looked into solar project development in Africa several years ago, as part of my MBA final thesis. Most common ones at that time were DFIs like the African Development Bank (AfDB), World Bank, or IFCs who could provide low-interest loans, grants, or guarantees to de-risk projects and attract private investments, which can become a blended finance model. There were impact funds that invests in these projects as well. Depending on the size of the project, crowdfunding could be an option as well. My knowledge in those continents is bit outdated as I didn't pursue this due to the COVID where travel was restricted so I redirected my focus into the US market.
