Someone reached out to me a bit ago, asking about 2 big secrets in business...
by a professional from The University of Texas at Austin - Red McCombs School of Business in Austin, TX, USA
1. How to build actual friendships 2. How to build a network and gain partners
Here were the 4 things I told him:
1. Get clear on what you want in life.
Revisit your goals often. Even daily. Make sure you’re moving towards them every day.
Talk about them with everyone. And filter out the people who don’t support you.
Revisiting goals daily makes your brain see more opportunities to reach your goals.
Be clear.
2. Keep your inner circle small.
People are busy. Most people won’t care about your problems enough to be there for you. Or they are too busy with their lives to notice your problems.
Know who you can count on and for what. Your inner circle will help you build a foundation.
3. Have a vision larger than yourself
My vision is inclusive capitalism - giving more people the ability to become capitalists.
What people see is an accounting rollup, networking, etc. What I’m really doing is having fun, and growing while creating opportunities for myself and others.
People who share my vision or like the actions I’m taking are attracted to me when I talk to them. The partnerships come because people see how to reach their goals within my vision.
4. Give help without expecting anything back
When you help without expecting anything back, do it when your cup is full and you enjoy yourself. Those are the most fulfilling moments in your life.
People are drawn to that.
This advice isn’t just for building a real friendship and relationship network. This is how you become the best possible you. That’s what attracts people, helps you unleash the best version of yourself, and helps you live life to the fullest.
…At least that’s what it’s doing for me.
