Hi all -

I'm looking to make a hire but I don't have a good sense of starting salary. I would appreciate any data on starting salary for a mechanical engineer. Bachelor's degree but no real work experience yet. Thanks

It depends on where the role is located and what exactly they will be doing. For most markets, I would put the range at $60-$70K. Certain industries and markets, such as oil and gas in Houston, can start north of this range.

We pay upwards of $85k right out of school. One reason is because if we are offering the same as BigCo for top talent, its hard to win those. I'd say $70-85k.
