I see a lot of posts of new people who are not sure how to approach a broker or seller to start a relationship… Try giving some value first. Call or email a broker and offer them a referral or something of value before asking for their time. As long as you sound like you know what you're talking about, the law of reciprocity will kick in and you'll be miles ahead from the get go. I used to do it all the time and it’s worked every time. Start with gratitude…

II think it is important to have clear goals with the first meeting? If you just want to introduce yourself, you are best to send an email with your deal criteria so we can add you to our CRM and newsletter.

If you want to see what is currently avaialble, check out the website and if you see anything of interest, sign the NDA, provide some information about yourself and then set up a call to discuss the transaction you are interested in.

Although we are happy to get referrals, we wouldn't expect them from an inquisitive buyer. We are focused on trying to find the right buyer for any engagment we are working on.

Hope that helps.

All you need is introduce yourself to the broker and tell them what you are after and email them your search criteria.
