Hi all, I’m based in Sydney and would love to connect with others in the local Searchfunder ecosystem. I manage a fund that acquires distressed SMEs for short term turnarounds. The Australian search community still feels early, which is exactly why I think it’s worth building real connections now. I’m keen to meet fellow searchers, investors, operators, and anyone interested in acquisition entrepreneurship, whether you’re actively searching, exploring the model, investing in the space, or just curious about where the ecosystem here is heading. This is exactly the kind of post I was hoping to find when I joined Searchfunder. I'm a finance student at USYD, currently deep in financial modelling and valuation work — recently built out a full DCF on a listed company stress-testing macro headwinds, which honestly accelerated my interest in how businesses are acquired and turned around more than anything else I've studied. The distressed SME turnaround angle is particularly interesting to me — I'd love to understand how you think about deal selection and the operational levers you pull in the early months post-acquisition. Would genuinely welcome a coffee and the chance to learn from someone already active in this space. Happy to bring something useful to the table too, if you ever need a second pair of eyes on a model or some research support, I'm keen.
