Thinking about buying a business or franchise

A little bit about my situation and myself...I started, owned and operated a multiple unit QSR for 10 years and had a successful exit about 3 years ago. Took about a year off to travel and spend time with family. Two years ago I started consulting for a transportation company business strategy, finance, operations and analytics. It has been really great and I'm happy there but I can't shake this feeling of wanting to get into business ownership again. Started looking at listings on BizBuySell but most I've contacted have been dead ends. Thinking about franchises now as well. Live oak bank gave me an SBA pre-qualification for $5MM but I wouldn't be opposed to alternative options.
