Thoughts on 2024 for deal flow in BC Canada?

Hi everyone, just curious how folks are feeling about 2024 thus far? In theory the higher interest rates should have driven down multiples slightly and worked in favour of buyers (long term, as interest rates then drop again). Practically though, it seems like that just pinched the market and sellers are possibly just holding out -- similar to the real estate market. I started my journey in January and have had a hard time finding decent mid market deals without too much compromise on my thesis.

Curious what others have encountered?

Johan, I hope all is well. A pleasure to meet. I wanted to introduce myself. I work with many searchers as their Canadian lawyer on M&A and I have also invested in searchfunds. If there is anything I can do to help your search, please do not hesitate to contact me.

We’ve been searching full-time since April, but the deal flow has been disappointing. For brokered deals, valuation multiples seem higher compared to Alberta or Eastern Canada. This is probably a function of a supply vs demand imbalance.
