Tips on approach to developing a thesis

Okay, yeah rollups are cool. What about those interesting theses that may not require multiple targets? I mean who here is the next Elon buying Tesla with a plan to make it something wholly new and paradigm shifting? Any books, frameworks, tips on how to develop a novel thesis relevant to M&A?

I doubt anyone would frame Elon Musk as a 'Searcher'. Musk has a technology and innovation thesis which he has brought to life via his acquisitions. A searcher thesis is unique and focused on improvements to an existing business. This is intentional to give inexperienced managers an opportunity to develop skills and not break the business while they transition in.

Darren, I love your thinking here. I haven’t come across any books for this. I suspect it is a thought experiment worth building over time. The components are: technology, financing, growing customer base, market trends, and of course the product. Look to LVMH, the NFL, Amazon. Def will be on the lookout for a book like this. I wanna read it too
