Hi all,

Is there anyone in this community who has experience of transitioning "traditional" software company into SaaS business?

I am about to sign SPA for an education software company in Japan. While the business has been successful in the last 25 years, it needs modernization in many aspects, and transition from desktop application with one-time sales model to SaaS business might be necessary for future growth. I have been listening to podcast and audible about the topic but wanted to learn from real experience with ETA contexts.

Best, Yoshi

I’d be happy to discuss.
1. conversion of existing customers can be tricky
2. pricing is a real concern/opportunity
3. You may have to redo sales commissions and incentives to reward and push transition
4. cash flow is smoother but those large license sales are addicting.
5. SLAs and partnerships need to be fully understood
