Hi all - I am launching a search fund looking to acquire a travel agency. Does anyone have experience in this space or have any suggestions? Specifically interested at this stage in connecting with potential investors and brokers, as well as learning more about the operations of this sort of business--the tech stack, other sorts of skills I'd need to develop in order to operate a business like this.

Hi Ethan, sounds like a fun venture! At the risk of perhaps stating the obvious, I recommend gaining understanding of the main GDS players (Amadeus, Galileo, Sabre, and Worldspan) and understanding which one, from a cost-benefit perspective, you'd want to underpin your business and all bookings. e.g., some GDS providers may bundle product sets and abilities; some may offer better pricing for small/medium enterprises

Hi ^redacted‌ - happy to chat. We acquired, operated & sold a tour operator (www.smarTours.com)...not exactly a travel agency, although some use tour operator & travel agency interchangeably. My email is redacted
