Unpaid Investment & Financial Modeling Intern
January 20, 2026
by a searcher from University of Toronto in Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Elliott Capital is an operator-led investment firm focused on acquiring and scaling durable, cash-flowing Canadian businesses. We work hands-on with founders, applying rigorous financial analysis, disciplined capital structures, and practical operating playbooks.
We are currently active on two live transactions:
• A $12.5M EV food manufacturer/distributor
• An $8M EV B2B services business
We are seeking a highly capable, unpaid intern to support financial modeling, deal evaluation, and investor-facing materials. This role is not a learning-from-scratch opportunity, I need someone who can contribute immediately.
What You’ll Work On
• Build and refine LBO models, including debt schedules, returns analysis, and sensitivity cases
• Analyze and normalize 3-statement financials (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow)
• Support preparation of Teasers, CIMs, and investor presentations
• Conduct targeted diligence analysis (working capital, margin drivers, cash conversion, etc.)
You will see real deals, real data, and real decision-making.
What I'm Looking For
This role is only suitable if you already have:
• Strong experience with financial modeling, including LBO models. Unfortunately, Ido not have time to train on modeling fundamentals.
• Familiarity with Wall Street Prep–style (or other) models and conventions
• Solid understanding of accounting and financial statements
• Exceptional attention to detail
• A strong sense of urgency and ownership
• The ability to work independently with minimal direction
Why This Role Is Worth It
• Direct exposure to live transactions from EOI through diligence
• Work closely with the team on investment decisions
• Substantive experience you can credibly speak to in future PE / IB / corp dev interviews.
• Proven track record: a prior Elliott Capital MBA intern leveraged this role into a paid internship with a multi-billion dollar vertical SaaS acquirer
This role is best suited for someone who is already technically strong and wants real exposure to deals.
How to Apply
Please send:
1. An email to redacted explaining why you’re a fit for this role
2. Your resume
3. (Optional but encouraged) A sample financial model or deal work you’ve done
Only candidates who meet the technical requirements will be considered.
