I need to hire a mechanic to inspect a 20 vehicle fleet as part of diligence for an acquisition I am working on. I am based on Orange County, CA and interested in any recommendations on mechanics that specialize in this type of thing, or that people have a good experience with in the past. Also interested in any tips about how to find someone for this from people who have done it before in other regions.

Hi Jason - I'm assuming that you are talking about vans or pickup trucks? The mechanics that we have used are outside of OC so I unfortunately don't have any direct references. If you are running 20 vehicles hard, this fleet will require significant maintenance/ repair. This day 1 issue of being able to keep the fleet running would be my concern. What I did was look for small independent repair shops near you###-###-#### minutes) that you could build a relationship with and that would prioritize working on your vehicles when issues arise. Perhaps this shop could also do your inspection and you could use this inspection as a "test run" for keeping them for future work.
