Most people hit the right ones (HBR, Simon's book, etc.). Another one I would recommend is The Quest for Value by G. Bennett Stewart. It's not an 'ETA' book, but it's a valuable reference/guide to understanding EVA (which can be applied to finding quality SMBs).

It's big picture practical. But when you're in the heat of search and dealmaking, this book lacks tactical and practical information. It's like so many other books written by academics.
