^redacted‌ First off, I want to congratulate you for asking this question—even if it feels like a basic getting-started one. It takes guts to put yourself out there, and I respect that. My advice? Start by doing your homework with whatever tools you’ve got—YouTube, ChatGPT, or good old-fashioned web searches—to build a foundation. That said, don’t get stuck there. Those resources are great for the basics, but they’re no substitute for action. When you’re ready to move, just begin wherever you are and let it grow from there.

For me, it’s all about deciding to start and then not stopping. You might be hoping for some secret sauce—and trust me, I get that—but if there’s any magic ingredient, it’s the one thing nobody wants to hear: work. That’s what it comes down to.

A little about my journey: I used to be an executive coach, helping business owners navigate their challenges, but I shifted gears into the searchfund space to build something of my own. I haven’t done a traditional acquisition (at least not in the classic sense), but that path led me to start and run several companies. Some worked out great, others… not so much. I even had an interesting moment where someone offered me a company for free—technically an acquisition, I suppose, just not the textbook kind.

So, my take? Dive in, take action, and don’t overthink it. The real learning comes from doing the work.
