What should a complete proprietary sourcing platform actually do?
Hi everyone, my name is Olaoluwa Oyekanmi. I’m currently a student at the University of Texas at Austin, and I’ve been spending a lot of time in the ETA and search fund world while working at a search fund myself.
That experience showed me how fragmented proprietary sourcing can become. Searchers often use one tool to find companies, another to enrich contacts, another to verify emails, separate spreadsheets to review targets, and still more tools to manage outreach.
I know I’m not the only person trying to improve acquisition sourcing. There are several platforms building company databases, enrichment tools, and AI research products. My goal with ASE Partners is different: I’m building the full acquisition workflow around how a searcher actually works, rather than adding another isolated tool to the stack.
ASE currently connects the following pipeline:
Thesis → Company sourcing → Qualification and review → Company intelligence → Contact discovery and verification → Personalized outreach → Export and tracking
A few areas that make ASE different:
• Evidence-based fit scoring rather than ranking companies from generic sector assumptions
• Ownership, geography, size, private equity, succession, and false-positive checks before a target is recommended
• Company intelligence that brings the research, financial estimates, contacts, risks, and supporting evidence together
• Targeted broker and M&A advisor sourcing based on the searcher’s specific thesis
• Identification of relevant associates, vice presidents, and other deal professionals at those firms
• Personalized outreach based on company and recipient research
• Searcher-ready spreadsheets and acquisition briefs generated from the same workflow
• A feedback system designed to learn from approvals, rejections, and searcher comments
• Direct collaboration with each searcher so the workflow and research can be adjusted around their actual process
I’m also adding phone enrichment and managed handwritten-letter campaigns, allowing searchers to coordinate email, calls, and physical outreach from the same platform.
I’m planning a live YouTube session where I’ll take a real acquisition thesis and run the full ASE pipeline in real time. We’ll source companies, review the evidence behind the results, remove false positives, examine ownership and contact quality, find relevant brokers, and generate outreach.
This will not be a polished demo built around perfect examples. The goal is to test ASE against a real mandate, let searchers challenge the results, and have an honest discussion about what a complete proprietary sourcing platform should deliver.
If you are actively searching and would be open to having your thesis tested live, comment below or send me a message. I’ll select one buy box and share the livestream date and link shortly.
