I reached out to nearly 300 business owners and used the CRM from Hubspot to keep track of all conversations. I think it's $20/month.

I'm not sure if it's the best or simplest option, but it works. If anyone knows of a better CRM, I'd love to know about it.

Whenever someone called me back, the CRM was essential so I could plug in the person's phone number, immediately get their name, and see any notes I'd taken about previous conversations.

FYI: This was part of a solo search. It didn't lead to anything. It was all cold-ish calling. I sent out a letter. I called once. I sent a postcard. I called again.

I had probably 25 good conversations. I got half a dozen good leads. Nothing has happened (yet). I've since changed my search criteria and I'm now forming a more formal search fund.

Choosing the right CRM depends on your requirements--e.g., deal tracking, sourcing, email automation etc. The solutions above vary in their focus. Personally, I've used Notion and found it to be excellent. I use it for deal tracking, contact management, and task organization related to deal flow. It has really helped efficiency. While there's the usual investment of setup time, the process is straightforward. Notion, in comparison to solutions like Hubspot, comes with no monthly fee (individual plan in my case). However, Notion lacks email outreach capabilities. If email automation is a crucial requirement, Notion is not the best choice.
