Why We’re Shutting the Door on Part-Time Searchers

Over the past few weeks, we’ve had a handful of people reach out asking to plug into Verdira’s backend which includes our lead scoring, outreach systems, deal flow, all of it. At first, we shared, gave time, data, playbooks, and structure to folks who seemed interested in moving, but here’s what happened: 1. They weren’t full-time. 2. They weren’t following up. 3. They weren’t moving with urgency. Some had been "searching" since 2019 and some had submitted LOIs, but only through brokers. Additonally, others said they were “back on the path” but still had a day job and no defined plan. Shit, we even gave one person two full lead lists that were scored, sorted, and ready to go and they still never followed up, there was 0 follow through. Which means, that none of them were truly ready. So with that said, we’re changing our approach and that means no more systems access, no more lead support and no more backend visibility unless someone is: 1. Full-time or in an active transition 2. Already sourcing or submitting 3. Reporting consistently and taking real swings We’re not doing this to be harsh, but more so because ETA doesn't work as a hobby. OK, let me take that back a bit, it works maybe 1% of the time, and I think still that's me being generous. Plus, with us giving resources to someone who isn’t committed doesn’t help them, all it does is delay and wastes both our time. Verdira was built by operators, for operators, not hobbyists or part-timers. Our platform only works if the searcher does, so if you’re serious, we’ll meet you there. But if you’re not all in, then it's not your time yet. Hope everyone can understand where we're coming from. I wish everyone the best in their searches! :) Marcus

Makes sense. I think 98% of buyers (individuals, not PE or strategics) will never buy a business. As one broker told me early in my cereer, "buyers are a dime a dozen - treat them with respect, but don't get your hopes up". A lot of truth in that.

^redacted‌ I can imagine from your post this has been a tough decision to change your approach. But data without action doesn't work and those that are unable, unwilling or just ignorant, probably not your target market anyhow. The right data is leverage. I would ve interested to know, as a full time self funded searcher, with several deals close to HOTs if your data, support and models are available in the UK? Thanks Gary
