As a buyer who did back out of a deal strictly on personal reasons I'm curious on what info you would want from the previous buyer? I would not want to comment on the deal or necessarily be contacted (and I'm all for supporting the ETA community). If anything I think this is a justified reason to find out from the sellers point of view.

Maybe I’m the outlier here but if I were a buyer (I’m not) I would want to have access to all information available about the business.

Once you reach the LOI stage you can ask the seller directly about who the other buyer was and why they fell through. If the seller is forthcoming with the information it should give you confidence, and if they aren’t then it that’s also valuable information.
