It's been years since, but during my time at a shopper marketing agency, food brokers were consolidating and acquiring specialized agencies, including shopper marketing firms. This shift was driven by CPG companies' constant pressure on agencies to reduce costs, increase value, and reduce their agency roster. Likewise, non-food brokerages serving large retailers expanded their services to include backoffice management (sku loading, analytics, chargeback challenging, etc.), trend services, consumer insights, and more. One notable example of a major consolidator is Acosta Group, which may be worth reviewing.

appreciate it. I am looking around and it seems the industry is still fragmented and still has quit a bit of consolidation that could happen. A lot of smaller firms out there so I guess that's where my head is at the moment.
